Ok. Now for how they combine.......

Combinations come in +/-20 increments of the main purebreed's lifespan. It's very interesting how it works. Observe the following:

Let's take a 350 creature, say a Dragon.

A [Dragon/Joker] will have a lifespan potential of 350 since both the main and the sub have lifespan potentials of 350. In fact, any time the main and the sub have identical lifespan potentials, so will their cross. But I digress.

A Pixie is in the 400 lifespan class, which is one category higher than the Dragon. So, a [Dragon/Pixie] will have a lifespan potential of 370, +20 to what the Dragon purebreed would have.

A Golem falls into the 450 class. Since this is two lifespan classes higher than the Dragon, a [Dragon/Golem] would have a lifespan potential of 390, +40 (+20 times 2) to what the Dragon purebreed would have.

The Durahan is in the 500 class, which is three lifespan classes above the Dragon. So the lifespan potential of a [Dragon/Durahan] would be 350+(3*20), a grand total of 410 weeks potential.

The Kato: one of the three 550 week monsters, 4 classes higher than the Dragon purebreed. The [Dragon/Kato]'s lifespan potential would be 430: 350+(4*20). Catching on so far???

Now, the same happens in the reverse scenario, only with -20.

While the Durahan has a lifespan potential of 500, the Metalner only has 450, one class below the Durahan's. So, the lifespan potential of a [Durahan/Metalner] would be 500-20: 480.

The Beaclon is in the 400 lifespan class, two classes below the Durahan's. So, a [Durahan/Beaclon] has a lifespan potential of 460 (500-(2*20)).

Since the Mock is in the 550 class, one above the Durahan, the lifespan potential on a [Durahan/Mock] would be 550+20: 570 weeks.

Hopefully, this makes some bit of sense. For those of you who can follow my train of thought (I'm sure that most of you can, but I haven't slept in nearly 24 hours, so I have absolutely no idea how coherent this will turn out to be), here are the lifespans of several monsters which I observed. All of the lifespans were ripped from the 80097A30/32 registers, and I can verify that each one of the purebreeds has exactly the lifespan potential which has been assigned to it. Anyway, here's my supporting data (I can see the pattern with what I have, but if you don't think that it's enough, I can collect more later upon request).

[main/sub] - hex value - decimal equivalent
-------------------------------------------
[Dragon/Henger] - 172 (370)
[Henger/Dragon] - 17C (380)
[Joker/Bajarl] - 186 (390)
[Bajarl/Joker] - 19A (410)
[Dragon/Pixie] - 172 (370)
[Dragon/Durahan] - 19A (410)
[Dragon/Kato] - 1AE (430)
[Mock/Joker] - 1D6 (470)
[Hopper/Mock] - 1CC (460)
[Kato/Tiger] - 1EA (490)
[Plant/Hare] - 1EA (490)
[Hare/Zuum] - 1A4 (420)
[Centaur/ArrowHead] - 1B8 (440)
[Tiger/Plant] - 1CC (460)
[Pixie/Wracky] - 1E0 (480)
[Jell/Tiger] - 1AE (430)
[Golem/Durahan] - 1D6 (470)
[Mocchi/Kato] - 1EA (490)
[Golem/Wracky] - 1FE (510)

Final note: monsters obtained from CDs have slightly augmented lifespans. Not by much, but by enough. Actually, this lifespan bonus can be somewhat big, as one of my CDs does give a Kato with a 588 week lifespan potential (once again, the +33). All of the lifespan values given here in this document are true for a) monsters from the Market and b)monsters formed by combining (regardless of augmentations of any sort, the lifespan of a "combined" monster will reset to the "natural" value listed above).
